I am looking for an example database that contains support calls of an IT nature.
It doesnt have to be huge but has to be in either an excel or access file format.
The other thing is that it needs to be a freebie :)

I need it for some helpdesk training that i am delivering.

I found this service call database on Microsofts website. Hope this helps. It is a free download.

The most impressive help desk ticketing system that I have located that is a free, full functioning help-desk system is by a company called Smartertools and the product is Smarterticket.

It requires MySQL, .NET, Windows hosting environment, etc. and I installed mine within about 20 minutes. I'm quite impressed with it.

Single user full version is free. Multiple operators is what starts the need for licensing paid copies.

I take it that you want a database that has already had a large number of job tickets already created.
If you have the time to create the job items then have a look at http://www.liberum.org , their package is open source and comes with an Access database.
If you are delivering helpdesk training why not have the trainees create the job tickets, I can not think of a better way to learn how a helpdesk functions than to work with one.
Cheers
