Help!! HDD (sata) problem

WD800BD sata drive
Gateway E-Series
Drive is partioned to two drives C: &
Machine will not recognize C: Recovery Console neither. tried fixmbr from recovery console prompt - no change
WD diags report that drive is fine - No Errors
Anything I can do other than reformat?

Try

adding the drive to another machine...see if you can access your data as a slave (non-boot) disk.

If so, something like Partition Magic or another boot utility might help you fix the boot record.

Otherwise if you just want to get data off, then get it off as a slave drive and I'd say go for re-doing the drive.

Is there actual content there or could it have been formatted in error?

Partition Editor - verify it doesn't have the wrong partition type.

Insure Goback is not installed (I believe there is a check for that on UBCD4Win.

Slaved it to another PC

As an external still can see only , of course it has a different drive letter.
What is partition editor?

Solution!

Since I couldn't get to a C: prompt I ran fixmbr from the prompt. That allowed me to get to a C: prompt from which I then ran fixmbr and fixboot on reboot it was fixed.
