Help! I can’t see my hard drive in Windows XP after using a Linux CD

Hello,

I am officially desperate…

I was giving Ubuntu Linux a test drive with a LiveCD. Needless to say, it didn’t work, since I had downloaded the wrong version for my processor. When I was running the CD check (with HDD plugged in), it froze up on me and I had to reset the computer to get it to come up again. I then downloaded the appropriate version of Linux I needed and ran its LiveCD, but my external HDD wasn’t recognized (I booted it with the power off on the HDD). Afterwards, I rebooted with Windows, and my HDD was still not being seen…

I had some trouble with Windows recognizing the drive when I first bought it.. Through trial and error I was able to get it to recognize the drive when I unplugged some other stuff from the USB ports. This is partially why I am holding out hope that the drive and data are still intact…

I checked the device manager and it doesn’t show up.. What should I do??? I have precious data on this drive! Help!!?!???

If anyone has suggestions of how I may be able to see the drive in either Windows or Linux (I tried using fdisk and this didn’t work), I’d appreciate it.

Thanks so much ahead of time..

-Abbie
