Help in fixing sound please!

By vogel2004 ·
Hi,
Ive really tried reading in every forum online Ive found how to fix my problem, but none of them applied to my case so Im sorry to finally be bothering people about it.

The thing is that I bought this used Fujitsu Siemens desktop some weeks ago with Windows 2000 in it, however when I upgraded it to Windows XP Home, sound stopped working at all. I know my speakers work, however no sound comes out from them when I plugged them to my computer. I dont really know much about drivers or codecs, so I wouldnt know what else to specificate, but I would really appreciate someone could help me on this one, since Im here in a new country and with no music. tragedy tragedy hehe.
Thanks!

Are they by any chance digital speakers?

by sgt_shultz In reply to Help in fixing sound plea ...

does the sound card look normal in device manager. what output device is set in control panel/Sounds and multimedia/speakers/advanced. also check there to make sure sound is not turned way down or muted. mcan you get a hold of a cheap pair of ear buds or another speaker and try them? you might have digital speakers. you'll need a digital out sound card for them or another pair of speakers.

Despite what many people think Windows doesn't have

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to Help in fixing sound plea ...

All the available drivers on the install CD.

You'll need to visit the Web Site and download the correct Sound Drivers for your system and then you can install them and that should have the sound working again.

The starting point as I don't know which model you have is here

http://tinyurl.com/lm83q

All you should need do is enter the model and then search and you should be presented with a list of available drivers you'll need to download the Sound Drivers for XP or Y2K and then install those. XP would be better but if none are provided the Y2K ones should do.
