Help! Laptop screen gone!

By tttcomrader ·
I'm using a HP OmniBook XE3, a few days ago I was just closing my the laptop, but I didn't realized that I have my hand on my keyboard, so my hand ended up hitting a few keys. After I open it back up, I found the screen's light is gone. It is not completely black, I can actually see that the screen is working, but it is just really dark. I have already tried to turn the screen brighter, but it doesn't work. Someone please help! Thank you.

All laptops have a small flourescent tube in the back to light the screen. This tube is known as a "backlight." It is most likely gone out and can be replaced at a service center for a nominal charge.

Usually resets on reboot

I've never seen this problem, but if you hit a few keys you might have swithed the video output to external monitor only. On Dell laptops there is a Fn key used in compbination with F8 to change it. But this usually resets on reboot.
