Help Me Fix MS Outlook That No Longer Lets Me Click ANY Links

By russelljalbert ·
Suddenly, my MS Outlook (and MS Word) no longer allow me to click through links. When I try, I get this error message.window.

MICROSOFT OFFICE OUTLOOK: "The operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

The problem started occurring immediately after I canceled one of my two gmail accounts (1st on Google, then immediately in Outlook 2007).

I am the Administrator and only user of this ThinkPad T60 with Vista Ultimate and Office 2007. I have Windows Updates set to automatic. I have been using this laptop for years, and suddenly this problem occured last Friday.

The problem does NOT happen in Internet Explorer - I can click through links with no problems.

So far I have done
1) Manual Windows Update
2) Repair of MS Office

Any advice you can offer is VERY appreciated. It is a real pain to have to copy and paste every link - like all the great TechRepublic RSS feeds

Many thanks,

Have you looked at the Security Settings in Outlook?

It sounds as if they are set to High or a Custom Level where all links are rejected.

Did you install and then uninstall Google Crome?

If so you need to modify the registry and change the values for opening websites back, see this link
