I am a network admin with e-mail responsibilities and I have W2K running Exchange 2K. How can I stop e-mails addressed to people who no longer work at my company?

Disable their accounts in Exchange. The mail should bounce back with a “account not recognized” type of message.

The user accounts have been deleted. They no longer work here. All of these e-mails are being delivered to the Exchange Admin\NDR account.

I’m running 5.5 and deal with it this way: I give myself the internet mail address of the former employee and then reply to the sender asking to be removed from their mailing list. If that doesn’t fix it, I add the former employee’s address to a “garbage” mailbox set up for only that purpose. Now any mail for the former employee goes into the garbage mailbox which is routinely cleaned out by mailbox manager.
