HELP! Monitor = ‘No Signal’ (tried everything I know…)

by mark_median . Updated 19 years ago

Bought a new Viewsonic monitor –

(ViewSonic Optiquest Series Q20WB Black 20″ 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor )

—-> ERROR: ‘No Signal’

What I have **already tried and has not fixed** my problem:

1). reseated all cards & RAM
2). removed all cards one by one and rebooted in between each removal.
3). tried 2 seperate 350 watt power supplies.
4). tried 4 seperate video cards (GeForce 6800 GT, Radeon 800 Pro, 2x Radeon X800 XL’s…all seemed to be getting power w/ fans running properly).
5). Swapped out processors and back
6). Tried hooking up monitor to another PC and it worked fine.
7). tried hooking up an older monitor I previously used on this same machine and same result: not working.
8). tried hooking up monitor to both connectors on video cards.
9). disconnected hard drive during most of these processes.
10). Swapped out one Nforce 2 MSI MB for another Nforce 2 (MSI also).

I had no Motherboard beeps during these processes.

I don’t know what else I can try. Not really a hardware guy. =P

Any constructive suggestions?

I read a bit about people owning MSI boards having similar problems but it would be unusual for two boards to not work….granted they are both older boards….

Only other thing I can think of is swapping out the RAM and seeing how it acts.

I do not believe the PC is booting to Windows XP while the monitor is off.
