Help needed on profiles!

By venraju ·
Hi

Here we are migrating from workgroup model to Domain model. This question relates to profiles. The scenario is as follows.

1. We are running with Windows NT W/S, Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 98 are clients.
2. When we are loginto the domain people are getting new profiles but the users need the same profile instead of getting the new profile. ( I tried copying the profile from the Control Panel> System > Profiles, but there is no use. The user must be able to see his profile exactly looks like earlier. Is there any way for this.
3. I am not sure with Windows 95, If any one has the same experience then please let me know.

Help needed on profiles!

I'd recommend copying the user's old profiles to a Profiles share on the network and then using roaming profiles - at least to start. This way, when the user logs on to the domain, he will get his old profile downloaded from the Profiles share on the network. You have to set this up in User Manager (on the PDC) for each user - open the user, go to Profile and in the User Profile Path field type the path to the network Profiles share. I'm not sure how well this works with Win95, but I know itwill work with NT WS and I'm pretty sure it will with Win2000 also. Hope this helps!
