Can I upgrade my operating system from FreeDOS to Windows? i using notebook HP presario CQ40-116

... if the specs of that computer meet the minimum system requirements of Windows Vista, since you can no longer buy any previous versions through retail outlets. In addition, you will need to purchase the full version of Vista, since the 'upgrade' path for Vista does not include FreeDOS.

It was supposed to be supplied loaded with Windows Vista well some form of it at least so it probably came with Vista Home Basic installed.

If there is a Vista COA on the Bottom of the NB you can contact HP and buy a Recovery Set from them for a minimal Cost and load Vista onto this computer.
