ok, here is the problem. I have a laptop and running windows xp. got a virus because my 9 year old typed in ****. pulled up a rauchy page then the computer went south. used every virus scan i could find to no avail, it started acting weird and the browser would get hi-jacked. so i thought i would re-install the os with a old copy of xp from a dell laptop that i have. blue screen said i could not do it. being dumb and stupid like my son ,i tried to install windows vista next.same thing,no go. a friend of mine stated that the hard drive is dead get a new one. i did and i installed it.plug in HD. I ran the better xp os and it loaded till then end when i got this message.”setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on your computer. make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer and that any disk related harware configuration is correct. this may involve running a manufacturer supplied dianostic or setup program”. then it tell me to exit. the HD is connected because you simply push into a slot. and under main in the bios it say that it is reconized. when i got the Hd i did not format it should i have done so? is the hard drive the problem if not what is? please please help a novice nurse.if you reply tell me whats the problem and how to correct it step by step.
