HELP!! Problems in XP instalation

By VanAlex ·
Hi!

I've been trying to install Windows XP for 2 hours now on a PC with more then the minimum requirements. The problem is that upon the very first stage of instalation, where we have that blue screen detecting RAID and such....just before we even choose the partition......Well it justs stops the instalation dead on it's tracks, it goes something FAT, Something NTFS and crash!!!Always, always on the same place....I tried several copies of XP on several languages, I even tried 2k Pro and it stops dead on the same place, the only SO I can install is crappy Windows 98.

I allready messed with every single setting on the BIOS and changed the RAM...nothing....Any sugestions? I'm desperate. I have to deliver this PC with XP in 3 hours.

HELP!! Problems in XP instalation

Check if your hard drive controller has native XP support.

That delay detecting RAID controllers is not just for RAID controllers. ANY controller that is not included in the 'standard' XP controllers may need a copy of the driver on a floppy so that you can load it for XP.

Next, how is the hard drive set up?
Is a drive overlay program installed?
This can also be a problem for XP.
If you used a drive manufactures set-up floppy, you may need to follow their specific procedures for booting up and installing the OS.

Since W98 works, that pretty much rules out most hardware issues.
However, if you have a modem and/or sound card installed, try removing them.
Install XP then add the cards back in.
I have seen several system specific conflicts with both modems and sound cards with XP. This seams to be a conflict between the plug-in card and how the BIOS handles resources.
