    HELP!! Proxy Server 2.0 problem

    My Proxy Server 2.0 has stopped working. At first I thought it was autodial, but it’s not that. I can dial out with the isdn modem and ping external ip addresses and domain names from the server. But anytime I try to access any kind of website from Internet Explorer (on the server or a client) I get nothing but clicks and a “connecting to site IPnumber”. This was working last night and I’m positive nothing has changed on the server. It’s like the Proxy Server isn’t there anymore. ANY IDEAS?I reran Proxy client setup and something weird happened: It set my proxy server to SERVER1, when I know I ran the setup from SERVER2. I was thinking this could be something with running 2 proxy servers, but I would have got this problem much earlierI think. PLEASE HELP!

      After installing Proxy, you must REAPPLY the service pack, also true to any major changes that you make on your server….u must reapply the service pack.

      You should be able to surf using the server, without going to the proxy. Before you troubleshoot your proxy, u must fix ur internet connection 1st. If the server cannot surf, how can u expect to use proxy. Once the connection is fixed, you can go to proxy. Go to Management console, properties of Web Proxy, and set permission to FTP Read—Everyone, WWW (Full Control)–Everyone.

        @#$%!!! – i always ignore the obvious….. ;)there seem to be intermittent problems with my isdn modem’s ability to dial into my ISP’s routers. tested proxy with a 56k connection to another isp account, but still have same problem. thx anyway.

      Just a WAG, but u said u had 2 proxy servers. Stop the proxy service on the one, reinstall proxy on the other u have problems with, reinstall any patches and try again with other proxy service still deactivated.

        thanks, but they were working perfectly together for a week before the problems (no changes made)

      make sure you have the proxy settings set on the client, in internet explorer.. you dont want to go thru the winsock proxy, you want the web proxy.. the only way that’ll happen is to set the browser to look for the proxy.

      Can you ping the proxy from the client??
