Help !! Restoring to last good boot up

I need to find command to restore my mother old computer to a good boot up. Brother inlaw was messing with it and corrupted some files. How do I restore computer back the way it i was before changes. Is it regedit?

The only option to try for Win 9X,insert the start up disk in A:drive,boot computer and choose to Run setup without CD-ROM support,this will reload the System files on the computer,after the process is complete,eject the disk and reboot computer.
If there is no startup disk create another one from similar machine

You can bot into DOS Command Prompt, change to Win dir and type 'scanreg /restore' w/o the quote. The scanreg will list out the last known good registry config and choose the previous registry that is supposed to work and click on Restore. your registry will restore your drivers and registry and later reboot. Your computer should be back to previous working state.

win 95 doesn't have scaneg
