Help Wireless not connecting – linksys/broadcom

    by tigrflytat2 ·

I have a Gateway computer with a Broadcom 802.11g network adapter and linksys wireless modem hooked to a cable modem. My fiance tried to download rainbow 6 las vegas to the laptop a few days ago and the computer did not have the right sysytem requirements so we uninstalled the program. We have not been able to connect wirelessly ever since. It was working fine before then. Does anyone know what I may be able to do to fix???

The Device manager says the network adapter is working fine. The computer connects when plugged in through a Marvel Yukon fast ethernet controller.

    Any help would be appreciated…..

when you turn on the wi-fi card on the notebook, does it find the SSID?

or does it fail to connect at all?

Is it failing when obtaining an IP address?

Is it failing when accessing the Internet?

      Can you ping he router?

      have you reset the router?

when i open my wireless connections – it does not find any networks in range. But I know there is 3 in range of my laptop. I have reset my router but not sure how to ping? and I have no connection at all unless I connected my lan cable. It just does not detect a network at all when i enable the wireless connection. I even did a system restore to a few days before the problem started and it still is not finding any networks.

thanks for responding and any help that you think may help I would appreciate it

caused lots of issues with peple I know and networking in general. I have found that I need to uninstall the network card and re-install it to get it working again.

Also, do you have any firewall SW? If so it may be blocking a WI-FI connection.

And finally, is your router setup properly?
