Help with Web Page

By drummergod12 ·
I recently designed a small web site for my company using Publisher 2000. We have a windows 2000 Server that we want to host the web site on. I am unsure about how to set up the server to host the web site. If anyone could tell me how to set up the server to host the web site or direct me to a web site where it tells me how to set it up. I am a newbie so forgive my ignorance.

A few issues to address here first. Is this your main server? I would strongly recommend not using you main server for this function, there will be vulnerability issues as well as performance issues. If you can, find a lower end computer, install win2k server on it along with IIS5.
As a small business, your best option would be to have your ISP host the site for a small monthly fee, they will supply you with a user name and password in order to maintain it through FTP....very worth it!!!!!
Chances are, as a small business you do not have your own IP address anyways and jsut lease it through an ISP anyways so when someone wants to access your site, a DNS server out there will point it to an IP address that you no longer use...not a good idea unless you have an IP address that is actually yours.
Good luck!

Mike
