HELP….problems sync between PDA and PC

    Locked

    by indynurse12775 ·

I am having problems setting up sync between my PDA and PC. I have an Axim X5 by Dell…I have downloaded the software that was on the disc that came with the PDA. When it asks me to plug the USB part of the sync cable into the PC and the other part into the PDA to connect, I do. However, after it tries to detect the PDA it then says “Device is not detected”.
I need help. I don’t know what I’ve done wrong. I just bought a brand new computer too. Therefore, I know that all of the USB ports work.
What do I need to do? Can someone walk me through this?
    Thanks to all

      It sounds stupid but…

Did you turn the Axim on? I tried 5 times before I turned it on.

Uninstall the software and dissconnect the Axim.
Go to Microsoft.com and download the latest version of active sync.
During the install it will ask you to connect the PDA.
Problem 1 was as I described before, the PDA is power on.
Problem 2 was that the Axim was not completely seated in the cradle. i had to force it down a little.
Veryify the it is getting power from the wall.
Verify that the USB port on the PC works.

I do not use a cradle for my axim x5 PDA because it is a 300 mhz model but I have the same problem inspite of the power being turned on(in any case the pda automatically turns on when connected to the laptop) and presently don’t know what to do.I read somewhere usb active sync problem is very common for dell axim x5 pdas but any help in resolving this will be helpful.
