Hey Neon!

by AnsuGisalas In reply to Hey Neon!

I'd like to take a snip of this branch "offline", that is, to the watercooler, as I'd like to hear what you have to say on the matter, but don't want to do it on top of your discussion with dcolbert, because I'm not entirely in disagreement with him, and I abhor two-against-one discussions, or even one-against-one+one-simply-discussing.
I'd like to discuss anarchy in practice - I so seldom disagree with you, that I'd be a fool not to learn what I can from you when I do. After all, disagreement is a stepping stone to greater understanding, if handled right.

EDIT: To get to the place where this was forked, click on the "Discussion on : Hey Neon!" up above the "add your opinion" button.

Now, there's a word I had not thought of introducing into this long march of latter-day TR somnambulists.

What do you suppose it will take, aside from the iconic round black bomb with burning fuse at the neck?

Oh, black won't do!

by AnsuGisalas In reply to Anarchy

Has to be painted like <a href=>this</a>!
I also think we need to simply go a little nuts. I don't feel like posting much, but how much of that feeling is mine, and how much is the life-tapping effects of this white mist? I think we need to stay in touch with the void, and simply be the **** out of this!

Yin Yang would probably be inapropriate

by Neon Samurai In reply to Oh, black won't do!

My understanding is that this symbole represents harmony not violence. Painting a bomb this way seems much like the Hello Kitty AK-47 (yes, it exists.. bright freaking pink and all).

I won't claim there are not more than a few historical accounts of Anarchists throwing bombs (Popular among French Anarchists pre WW1 I believe), though I think basing an analysis on this is similar to seeing an American shoot someone and claiming that it is a direct reflection and political value of democracy.

Taoism and anarchism go way back...

by AnsuGisalas In reply to Yin Yang would probably b ...

After all, taoism is about self-government, acting and counteracting.
It's incompatible with being governed by others.
A bomb for true anarchy would not be a black-powder explosive or even a logic bomb... it would have to be a tao bomb to unravel the illusions that make the governed slavebind themselves.

That's probably the most fearsom weapon known to politics

Truth and/or removal of the alusions a given political system relies on to maintain control over the population.

(hm.. watercoolar comments don't show up in my list of posted comments? really? Have they implemented any improvements or fixes since the new site launch?)

Some minor fixes...

One improvement; now when you edit a post that has special html character like ä then the character is decompiled, so that you don't have to re-enter the html...

I'm pretty burnt out from the last spagetti of threads

by Neon Samurai In reply to Hey Neon!

Basically I was simply pointing out that Anarchy is not disorderly chaos and imposed rule by strength. Really all it needed was "true, I meant chaos versus the Anarchist political system".. but he said, she said, I'm right, your right and off it spiralled into more than a simple passing side-comment.

The irony remains how far removed I am from being an Anarchist. Where that my political bent, I wouldn't be plotting and dreaming of the day I could move our office storage server from a flat root directory full of whatever any user desided to save there into a proper and securable hierarchy based on departments or related tasks.

In terms of the spiralling discussion, Anarchy apears to be another of those things that was miss-represented for political gain long ago and as such, is now an emotionally charged word that causes a blind knee jerk reaction from those who think it only anti-establishment chaos worshiping zealots dreaming of a time when we revert back to draconian rule by might.

Yes, the colocial meaning of "anarchy" has come to mean chaos for better or worse. Anarchy however, is something very different and in direct oposition of rule by might and chaos.

To be honest, my introduction to the political system outside of the colocial miss-representation was from discussions over on OSNews where some well educated Anarchists explained how the system actually works along with providing links to documentation both for healthy Anarchy and where it's been manipulated or missrepresented for on political agenda or another. (to justify vilifying a "them" or justify an indaviduals hunger for violence). I wish I could find the specific threads in the discussion but it may come down to you spending some time with google

And as has come up in various conversations before; yes, language evolves over time through usage. This fact shouldn't be in such direct conflict with using a more accurate and apropriate term when it is available.

Funny, how things go...

by AnsuGisalas In reply to I'm pretty burnt out from ...

I am pretty anti-authoritarian myself. Nothing like clasting an icon once in a while to take the mind off things.
At the same time I worry about the monkey in our souls, how limited resources impact upon any system, and about the natural limit to any freedom - the freedom of another.
I do think the distinction between freedom to do and freedom to be is relevant.

So, in your spare time,
