    hiberfil.sys directory

    Locked

    by incinerator ·

When trying to use powercfg -h off as an administrator in Windows 7 64bit, I get the message that I do not have sufficient privilege to enable or disable the Hibernate feature. I would like to either move the file to a different drive or remove it completely. regedit would not allow me to change the value for the 2 keys containing the file and powercfg will not allow me to export to try and change the location there and then import the changes.

      Registry Permissions

Powercfg would just be attempting to set the same registry keys, so it sounds like you’ve got a registry permission problem. Write-click on the key in regedit and click Permissions. Clear any Deny permissions if they’re set, then make sure you have write permission. If you get stuck just add Everyone with Full Control, make the change, then remove Everyone again.
