Hidden folders

By ggomez ·
While playing around with W2K I accidently hide
some folders. Is there anyone out there that can
tell me how to change the permissions back to default, cause even logged-in as the administrator
I get "access denied" when I try to reset the folder settings.

I believe the default setting for each folder is everyone with full control.

Login as the Administrator or an account with the Administrative right and navigate to Command Prompt.

Use CACLS command as following.

CACLS filename (or folder name) /g everyone:F

The above command grants (g) everyone (everyone) Full Control (F) on the filename (or folder name) specified.

For more detail on keys or switches, use ?CACLS /?? without the quotes.

Hi,

You seems to have removed the read permissions from those folder to your account. You need to right click on the folder/s and go into Properties > Security > Advance > Owner and then select your user name which will be displayed below ( I assume here that you are logged in as a user who is member of the Domain Admins group or Local adminstartor ) and click Apply/O.K.

Later assign full controll permission to yourself on the folder. This will give you authority to do anything there after.

Hope this helps.
