Hidden Share Permission

By sabatogz ·
Let say I create a folder called "Data" and share the file with the $ at the end to hide the share from the rest of the users "Data$". I then remove the everyone group and add a group I wish to have access to the dir. I would like the users to be able to output some basic computer information to this hidden shared dir, But I keep getting permission denied. If I removed the "$" from the end of the shared folder there are no problems. My group has admin permissions.

Any Ideas?

Hidden Share Permission

To access hidden shares, you have to connect to them with the right paths.
In your example, you have to connect with \\servername\data$

Also, please check NTFS permissions on your "Data" folder. These permissions could prevent you from accessingthe folder.
