Hide mapped shares/paths

I would like to find a way to hide the mapped shares in all versions of windows. Instead of seeing “Public share on ‘Server_1′(P:)” I would like my users to just see “Drive(P:)” like the regular drives. Novell used to use the “root” command, I would like to find something similar. Thanks for the help.
