I don't know if you can "hide" it, but I know you can set the security so only you would be able to access it. Just right click on the drive and go to security. Remove or add the appropriate accounts.

You need Registry Editor (regedit) to hide the partition.

NOTE: Editing the registry is risky, so make sure you have a verified backup before saving any changes.

Start | Run and type ?regedit? without the quotes.

Go to Hkey_Local_Machine | Software | Microsoft | Windows | CurrentVersion | Policies | Explorer.

If there is no ?Explorer? key, create one by right clicking on the right pane and New | Key.
Highlight Explorer and create ?NoDrives? Dword Value.

Use Decimal Base and enter the following value as needed:

Drive A: 1 B: 2 C: 4 8 E: 16 F: 32, and so on.

If the partition you want to hide is D, you would enter 8.

Logoff or restart the computer.

Please be reminded that the drive will be visible and accessible thru Run command.

Alternatively, you may use Tweak UI to hide drives (A-Z including mapped drives).

Download from
http://tinyurl.com/36n

Once installed, logoff (not switch user) or restart. Open TweakUI from Control Panel, click on My Computertab and uncheck drives you want to hide.

I just found out the TweakUI only works for the same user.
The Registry Editor (regedit) works for all users.

use Power Quest's Partition Magic.
It allows you to hide and unhide partitions.
check www.powerquest.com for more info and details.

The easiest way I know of is built in xp. Go to Start, Run and type "gpedit.msc" Expand the Administrative Templates in User Configuration. Find the "Hide these specified drives in My Computer" and right click on it. Go to Properties and click enable. From the pull-down, chose the drive you want to hide. Close it out and the drive will be hidden. If you want to view the drive, either re-set the machine to the original settings (what you did above) or from Run, type "D:" (or whatever yourdrive letter is) and it will open the drive.

Good luck.
