What to do...

by CaptBilly1Eye In reply to Hijacked

The first thing I'd do is disable the Browser Helper Object in Internet Explorer called "Groove GFS Browser Helper". That looks very suspicious. In order to deactivate it, open Internet Explorer and go to the Tools menu. There select 'Manage Add-Ons'. In the list of Add-ons currently loaded, find Groove GFS, highlight it with a single click, put a dot in front of 'Disable' and click OK. Reboot your system and see if that takes care of it.

Other than that...

I'm not sure if you'll find someone here who will diagnose your HiJackThis log. I recommend that you post your HiJackThis log where there are many people who specialize in working with them. Try here: http://tinyurl.com/2nxzqt
You'll have to create a login but I think you'll find it to be the easiest and best way to resolve your issue.

Groove GFS

by Langlier In reply to What to do...

is part of office 2007. no need to kill anything there. I gave an quick lookover of the log and saw nothing that set my mind to warning. but it was a brief look.

Let me recommend hitman pro 2 (found at hitmanpro.nl). It downloads many different popular antispyware and if you configure it AV clients that should take care of the problem. If I get some time later I'll do a better check of the file.

Thanks for the heads up

by CaptBilly1Eye In reply to Groove GFS

on that one. new one on me. ...that's why I recommended deactivation rather than deletion.
...shows I haven't tried Office 2007 yet.

at first glance

by Ironspider In reply to Hijacked

Reboot the compter into safe mode.
Go to start> settings> control panel >add/remove programs and uninstall these programs if found:

WebHancer
FunWebProducts
eAcceleration

Then navigate to and delete these files/folders if found:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\FunWebProducts (Folder)
C:\Program Files\Common Files\eAcceleration (Folder)

Some malware camouflage themselves as Adobelmsvc.exe, rundll32.exe and Ati2evxx.exe particularly if they're located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder, check to see if they're legit.

Thanks for the replies. I cant boot in Safe Mode? I also cannot find the files to delete in normal boot mode? When I do try to boot in Safe Mode It hangs on alot of lines like this (Excuse my terminology im a novice when it comes to any computer code)Multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\drivers\BTHidMgr.sys. I have noticed that I cannot check for errors on my C Drive either?
