One of my clients has an unusual situation and I am looking for possible causes. I have eliminated the “proper” DHCP server and client configurations as possible causes. The problem must lie on one of the divices on the WAN.
When clients request an IP address from the DHCP server, something “hijacks” the request and sets the client’s “Gateway” IP address value to one that is equal to the IP address of the one leased to the client. A client communicating directly to the DHCP server receives the proper gateway – one that goes through the LAN is beset with this problem. Any ideas?
