Its well known that a company is only as good as the people that work for it. And a few outstanding people (outstanding at what they do for a living) are worth far more than many average performers.
Hiring good talent takes time but fierce competition often creates intense pressure to hire quickly. What kind of strategies work when you need to hire good but hire fast?
One strategy is to hire contract to perm but you would have to be lucky to find a good full time perm candidate who is willing to contract to ‘try before you buy’.
Other strategy is to count on your recruiter, which means find a great recruiter first. I had a great recruiter for several years and that did make hiring great talent much easier.
What about word of mouth? It works well if you hit the headlines for some reason, ie a start up that raised a round, or an established company that hit the headlines with a break through technology.
Please share your experiences with what worked or didnt work for you.
