Home Network DLink DI-524

by krisandbri19 . Updated 19 years, 1 month ago

I have awireless network with my DI-524revC with the latest firmware. I have a laptop and a Desktop that both connect fine through the router to the internet. THe laptop is a Dell Inspiron 9200 with Windows XP and HP desktop with Windows Vista.

They both have static IP address on the LAN of 192.168.02 and 192.168.0.3. They are both
also on the same workgroup. I am using WPA encryption. When I initially setup the homenetwork I can share files and printer fine between the computers. It will work for
less than 1 day and the next day the omputers can no longer talk to each other.
However, they continue to access the internet fine. I have tried turning off the software firewalls on each computer, but it doesn’t seem to help. I actually have trusted zone’s on each firewall and when the network works it works fine with the firewall’s turned
on. I have tried to set the router firewall to allow traffic between computers on the LAN. I think I have done this correctly because it will actually work fine sometimes after I reboot the router.
It is even more confusing because sometimes the computers can see each other but sometime they can’t. Sometimes when I look at the Microsoft Network under the Subnet it will not show the other computer, however I can sometimes connect by typing run:\\192.168.0.3. But yet the computer will not show on the network map. Any ideas
