home networking !!

By edmond_sng ·
Hi,

I used my company's laptop at work and we have a coporate NT4.0 domain within the company. The laptop is part of the domain. If I want to take my laptop home and connect to my home pc via a x-over cable, do I have to disjoint the laptop from the domain while I was still at work b4 I can join it to the workgroup at home?

Please advise

I think that you can use the laptop just with a local user...
But, if you know the settings of yours domain server it?s possible?

Depends upon what operating system your using. Windows XP has the capability of creating two hardware profiles just for this purpose.

Windows & .NET Magazine, April 2003, Mike Obrey's column "Awesome Windows XP Tips" has a write up of this feature. Check out his article for the complete "How To".
