If I have a desktop wired to a wireless router (which in turn is wired to a cable modem)and want to wirelessly network a new laptop, do I need a wireless desktop card in the desktop? Both computers are running XP. I’ve run the wireless network setup and network setup wizards on both computers with some success. Both computers can ping each other and the laptop can access the internet. The laptop shared docs shows up in the laptops list of My Network Places but not the desktops, desktops don’t show up on either. I’m not seeing any indication that the desktop is part of the wireless network. I don’t currently have a desktop card in the desktop PC so I’m wondering if that’s my problem. I’ve wasted a day on this – any help would be appreciated!
