It goes on to say that I might not have permission.
When I want to put a file on a remote host or copy a file from one, I normally use the run command \\hostname\c$\path to get where I want to go.
Why would this functionality suddenly disappear? I am an admin on the remote host. The firewall is off. Remote access is enabled.
I can log on to the remote host via “Remote Desktop Connection” or DameWare with success and can “see the outside” – connect to shares etc from this host.
Basically, nothing has changed on this host except for the recent inability to view it’s contents through windows explorer using the run feature as I do with all my remote hosts.
I tried removing the host from Active directory and putting it back – I also tried removing the administrative share C$ and rebooting – same problem…
I have one sure-fire last-resort cure. Format.
Any ideas? What little thing am I missing?
