Hot Backups

I have one Novell 5.1 server. I am running two channels one is raid 5 and on the other channel is a 36gig drive. I would like to backup my files from the raid five to the 36gig drive so that I have quick restore of files instead of going to my tape backup device. How can I achieve this?

Thanks
Steve

Can think of a few ways to do this.
1. Use a workstation, to copy the files back and forth. Takes a long time and floods the LAN. You could add an extra LAN card just for this job.
2. Use the server to copy it. Get JCMD from www.novellshareware.com, its like a DOS-shell for the server. Copys fast and no LAN traffic.
3. The best way, use Cheyenne Arcserve (or Veritas etc, they all do the same) and use the 36Gb as the target. Its fast and efficent and you get all the database functions for restore, stats and stuff.
Use changed files only option and should be able to copy it several times an hour depending on how much data is changing. Use the open file managers and database agents if you want it backed up while users are on.
Hope it helps!
