Can I hotswap a hdd in a Raid 5 environment on a Compaq Proliant (old) without interrupting network service? What should I look for when doing the hotswap. Running Novell 4.11.

With the minimal information you have given us, there is no way to give you an answer. Hot swapping requires a special backplane in the server. Not all Raid 5 arrays are hot-swappable. You either need to dig out the documentation for this server or give us more information about its configuration (since there are more than 50 different "Proliant" servers listed on the Compaq support site).

Or if you don't have/can't find your documentation, check out the Compaq Reference Library (below) and see if they have your server's manual available as a download.
