Pavan,
It is very difficult to get an exact answer for your question. A lot depends on the kind of experience (years, quality) expected from the candidate. A VB programmer could get anywhere from $50 to $90 per hour. Andersen/Deloitte would typically charge more than $100 per programmer

There is a fair amount of regional variation but for your purpose here, I would think that figures of around $150-175 per hour for a Big5 (or Big3 or Big8 or however many there are this week) consultant and $85 per hour for a Visual Basic programmerwould give reasonable approximations of the likely cost.

I would suspect you biggest problem would not be money, but rather getting a good value! VB and VBA Programmers that FINISH jobs that make customers happy often demand and get $85-&125/hr. (+ expenses)constructing database business applications. Iwould be more concerned with past client references as there are many more wanna-bees than experts on the market.

Also, if this is for a school class project make sure the area your programmer is likely to come from is taken into condideration. 85-125 is typical throught the Southeastern US - where I am. Silicon Vally may be more?
