      ok.well…for starters

not sure what exactly you are trying to do. mthis is my guess:

you want to create a workgroup with windows 2k and 9x workstations correct?

      ok step by step.

      -assemble/purchase computers
-choose locations for computers (i.e. which offices get them)
-choose a central location to all comptuers for a switch
-purchase switch. best buy has some nice ones
-run CAT5 cable from each office/location to the switch location
-make ends for cables using cable crimper and RJ-45 ends
      -install desired OS on computer
      -for most windows installs:
      -click start
      -click settings
      -click control panel
      -click networking
-make sure each computer has Microsoft networking service installed
-make sure file and print sharing is on
-make sure each computer has TCP/ip installed
-configure each tcp/ip to a static ip addx
      ex. 192.168.1.100-200
      subnet 255.255.255.0
-add each machine to a common workgroup
      ex YOURCOMPANYNAME
-create shares on each computer based on what data you would like to share by opening my computer..locating folder to share, right click click sharing, specify shre name and permissions

walla easy as pie. for specific instructions for each OS consult the help files using keywords from these instructions

now if u are installing a domain based network please consult your local IT consultant

      cheers,
      kenderkin

This answer is how to setup a domain in win2k. First, you configure the server.

Install win2k. Networking components should include
      – DNS
      – DHCP (optional, since you can use static IP addresses for clients)

After installation, configure your server with a Static IP address/es.

Go into DNS, create a forward look up zone and allow dynamic updates.

Go to start, run, type DCPROMO to promote this server to a domain controller. Reboot. Now you have a domain configured.

Next, create the user accounts, using Active Directory Users and Computers, Users container. Right-click on the container, choose New, User. Repeat the process for each additional user.

This next step can be done at any time. To create a shared resource, simply right-click the folder you want to share and choose Share. You can then add specific users and assign permissions.

Depending on what version of windows you have, joining a domain is different. Pretty much, after you join the domain, make sure you’re logging in using a user account that you created on the server.

That’s the basic layout for a domain. Your domain controller authenticates all users and all resources are centralized.

email me if you have any questions.

When I said ‘install win2k’, i’m referring to the Server edition.

Also, forgot to mention that you need to configure your clients with the server for DNS. Regarding IP addresses, either give them static ones (make sure everyone is on the same subnet as your server) or if you installed DHCP, it will hand IP addresses out to the clients.

My first recommendation would be to take an English class. Your customers are not going to be impressed with your network documentation if it uses the same grammar and spelling your question did.
