How burn an ISO file to a DVD disc and make it bootable?

By mark_its ·
I am a member of Microsoft Partners Network and with my subscription I have access to software. I downloaded a copy of Windows 7 Professional to trial on a PC I have. The file comes as an ISO file. I have Roxio Creator and Nero eXpress and now CDBurnerXP to burn ISO files to CD/DVDs. I have tried them all but and they all allow me to configure the software to burn the ISO file to the DVD disc, however, the end DVD disc never boots the computer.

I took my older copy of Windows XP and I can start my PC with that CD in the drive and it starts to boot up ready to install XP on the new hard drive. I just can't get the PC to boot the new Window 7 DVD that I make from that ISO file I downloaded.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong or what I might try?

Thank you all for your support and ideas.

To solve this problem I think I need more information... First, are you sure that your computer can boot from dvd, second are you getting any error messages when trying to boot from dvd? Also if you can boot from USB and you have a flash drive you can use to burn an ISO file to then try this program https://launchpad.net/unetbootin/+download
.

In Nero Express you need to choose

Disc Image or Saved Project to turn the ISO into a usable form.

Not sure that you can do it with CD Burning XP and as I have not used Roxio for several years I'm not sure that any directions that I gave for that would be correct any longer. :0

But Open Nero Express chose the DVD Drive and left click on Disc Image or Saved project and then navigate to the stored ISO Image and that will open the ISO to a usable format.

Not actually sure what version of Windows 7 you have though as I seem to remember that the version that M$ have available is actually the Ultimate not Professional version.
