How can i cnnect windows server 2008 DC to the internet ?

By jspicho ·
I have a windows server 2008 R2 AD Domain Controller which can't connect to the internet. When i connect the client computers directly to the internet by inputting the ISP DNS servers on their NICs, they can access the internet. When i configure DNS with the ISP DNS servers as forwarders, the DNS server cannot resolve the ISP DNS servers as forwarders and the root hints check box is grayed out.
I am stuck and i would like someone to help me,
The computers access the internet through a router which is connected to a main switch that the whole LAN is connected to.
Will gladly appreciate any assistance.
