How can I correct a network printier communicationissue caused by WIn 7?

Good Morning

My name is Todd Chasarik, IT Manager for the New Road Schools of NJ. I am having an issues with several new laptops we purchased for the school, which are running WIndows 7 Pro 64-bit, and their ability to communicate to the network printers (HP LaserJet 2430n) we have. Between two servers (Running Server 2000//2003) the issue I feel is driver related. That being stated I decided to download both the PCL5 and PCL6 drivers for both Windows 7 Pro 32-bit/64-bit. These drivers are installed on the laptops since the printers were setup as local printers reading from the networked printer IP address. Note I didn’t set this up I inherited it.

Once a print job is sent, I am getting a very slow response to the printer, if any. I am successfully able to ping so I know it is not a network connection isseue. Most cases the sent jobs are produced hours later. If anyone has any suggestions I will gratefully accept them, Thank you for your time.
