How can I fix an "IE hs Encountered a Problem and Must Shut Down" problem?

By jd_lark ·
When I try to print a downloaded Tech Republic blog or article, I get a "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close..." message. This does not occur when printing downloads from other sites. I'm using Windows XP SP3. How do I fix this?

What do you mean by "print a downloaded page"? Are you printing from the web, or printing a page you have downloaded to an HTML file and folder or web archive?

Check your event logs to see what errors may be listed when this happens. If IE offers to collect data and report the error to MS, do so. Then, check the collected data for hints. You can also profile the application crash by running this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645 to see any obvious errors, if it is something with which you are comfortable.

Gawd! Don't you wish someone could just answer a question without having to add thread after thread after thread.

The same thing happens to any IE v 8 on any W7 or XP machine that I use for any Tech Republic article. I hit "More" and select Print and CRASH! So far this happens with no other sites nor with any local applications. Just Tech Republic articles.

"Just Tech Republic articles."

Well, you know where the problem lies, then.
