could possibly try in VM . . .

by Who Am I Really In reply to How can I practice Unix c ...

I never tried it,
(I prefer real machines I've got them spotted all over my house and office)

but you could try;
installing a Unix OS in a VM (Virtual Machine)
and work on it that way

if you don't know how to do this,
find someone who does and ask if they can set it up for you

(anyone else here with experience, who can say, "yay" or "nay" to this being an option?)

Run CoLinux portable Ubuntu

This will launch Linux as an app on your PC, giving it all the Linux goodness instantly.

Since every flavor of Linux/Unix is different, you might want to just download some various live distros, such as a LiveCD of Oracle (formerly Sun) Solaris.
