Two ideas,

by seanferd In reply to how can i recover my file ...

but I don't know if you can get your data back. You'll have to try a recovery tool.

Read a couple of articles and product descriptions from that search to get the idea.

If the data isn't really that important, partition and format the drive in Windows (so the disk is recognized), then see if a free recovery tool can find the files.

If the data is critical, and for some reason you don't have it backed up anywhere else, I would suggest you do nothing with the drive, but contact a data recovery house (can be quite expensive).

Fist idea:
<i>when it displays "remove usb device and insert it again"</i> You didn't use the Safely Remove Hardware function in the Windows tray area. This certainly causes the problem you are having - people do it all the time.

Second idea: You installed imation and repartitioned the drive while your data was already on it, which will also wipe the data. You always want to set up stuff like this on an empty drive, then store the data.

But since you are also getting the no disk error, I would guess that the first idea is what happened.

Additionally, you have to be using one of the approved drives to use this software. If installed on an unapproved drive, who knows what could happen.
