How can I reformat my computer?

By darkwhisper ·
I use vista ultimate on my 2007 media center desktop. This is what came with my computer. I am trying to reformat my computer because I am trying to figure out if my audio issues are related to changes ive made on my computer since uninstalling reinstalling drivers does not work. However, 6 months ago I had my hard drive replaced because it died. They had given me back my operating system (but not sure how they did so). Today, I realized I don't have my recovery drive anymore, nor do I have a vista ultimate CD or Pc tools folder where I can create recovery disks... How do I reformat? And if there is a way, will my os still be vista ultimate? I don't want to lose that operating system. I see there is still an option for f11 where it says system recovery. but will that work and is that what I want? My data is already backed up so I am not worried about losing files and software I downloaded on my own time.

Realistically - how would we know?

First of all you say "Today, I realized I don't have my recovery drive anymore, nor do I have a vista ultimate CD or Pc tools folder where I can create recovery disks"...

Then you counter that statement with "I see there is still an option for f11 where it says system recovery. but will that work and is that what I want?"

I suggest you press F11 at the appropriate time and find out!

Did you tried installing microsoft high definition audio driver before your sound card drivers.

because media center uses high definition

do a google search on microsoft high definition audio driver and download and install and then install ur audio driver and resart the computer

Won't Windows update find drivers?

by Ron K. In reply to Re:

It found drivers for my Kodak AiO printer and Nvidia graphic card using Custom at the Windows update site. They were under software and hardware on the right.
Large downloads for me. 90 MB for Nvidia and 1MB for the printer.
I remember having a 105MB hard drive. Paid $135.00 for it.:^0
It might be easier to help to know the computers make and model or the motherboards make and model.
