How can I remove NFS namespace from a Ne

    Locked

    by tillyleon ·

When I was installing FTP on one of my 4.11 servers I added nfs name space I didn’t realise i didn’t need it. Now when I ftp to that server I get different responses depending on what ftp client I use. Sometimes there are no files displayed and sometimes there are more files than there should be and they all start with the letter a. I have a seconf ftp server at another site that works fien so I believe it is the nfs namespace that is causing me the grief.

      look at tid 10019750
CAUTION: Removing a Name Space may corrupt files originating in that name space. (Example, if the mac namespace is removed, mac files lose their resource fork which may corrupt the file depending upon the application the file was written with)

The procedures to remove a name space are:
1 — Dismount volume that you want to remove the name space from: DISMOUNT VOLUME < volume name >
2 — Load Vrepair: LOAD VREPAIR
3 — Select “Set Vrepair Options”
4 — Select “Remove Name Space Support from the volume,”
5 — Select the name space you want to remove,
6 — Return to the main menu and select “Repair a Volume”
      7 — Re-mount the volume: MOUNT < volume name >.

You’ll have to down that volume and run the latest VREPAIR.NLM for 4.11. This has an option to remove a name space.

      Cheers
