How can i remove the printer and fax folder?

By SPC_TCOL ·
I have an open computer lab. All Printing jobs go over a print manager, but if someone opens the network printer he is able to print his printjob, before the print manager is able to delete the job.
How can i hide the printer in the menu, that they still can use, it, but don't know how to open it?
The computers are running XP Pro

are these lab computers part of a Domain? Can you be more specific to what your print Manager is? is it a server 2003 box that hold all the print queues or an XP box with a shared printer?

Print Manager Plus 2008

by SPC_TCOL In reply to couple questions...

I have the Print Manager Plus 2008, don't ask me why we have it, it was in place when i started here. This one takes care of the restrictions.
The problem is that you can open this printer box, where you see all the print queues, every document will stay there for about 10 sec. It's praobly made, that the admin can decide if he wants to allow it or not.
Students found out, that they can outsmart the system, when they resume the prints there, before they get deleted.
With your domain question i am not sure. I know that this all goes over a server 2003.
But i will find out shortly.

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Start_ShowPrinters:REG_DWORD

0 = do not show - 1 = show
If the value does not exist you have to create it. It can be scripted of course. You can hide the control panel through gpedit.
