How can i configure a secure remote desktop connection from work to home using a dialup or dsl?

Use a VPN to make the connection. You will need an endpoint at the office and should be able to use windows XP's VPN to connect to it if you choose correctly.

Hello, there are a couple of basic things you can do without implementing a VPN: 1) Go into Terminal Services Configuration, which is under Administrative Tools on your server and set the encryption level to high, 2) Only allow your home DSL IP through the firewall to that server on port 3389. Hope this helps!

ssh is a great way (if you are using Linux) and just display the remote desktop on your local system.
