I have all my mp3s organized on my hard drive in folders by artist, then by album, with the file name structure “artist – (track #) song title” … for example:
folder: Bruce Springsteen
subfolder: The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle
file name: Bruce Springsteen – (02) 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)
I want the same folder & file name structures on my 80GB iPod Classic, but iTunes is quite possibly the worst program I’ve ever had the displeasure of using. It commandeers file names, removes artists and track #s, and there’s absolutely no folder structure unless you’re delusional and think that lumping thousands of songs into a folder called “Music” is structure.
Does anyone know of a program I can use to get the results I want? Unfortunately, drag-and-drop doesn?t work with the iPod. I tried SharePod this afternoon and it seemed to work, but the songs are all MIA once I disconnect the iPod from the computer.
