How can l tighten folder security

By Gary Haldane ·
I have a problem in NT where users can copy or drag a directory, to which they do not have access into their user area and then open that directory and it's contents.
Is this a security hole in NT?
Does anyone know how to fix it, a work around, ora 3rd party product that will help me.

First, make sure you use Folder/file permissions and not just share permissions as the permissions go deeper and are more controllable. Two, you may want to move these folders to a different share and or hide the share they are in (put a $ at the end of the name keeps network neighborhood snoopers at bay). Three as stated make sure they do not have read access to the folder. And if you are not sure who is doing it you may want to turn on auditing to have documentation of the activity.
