But if you have [b]Important[/b] Data on the Drive it may be possible to recover it.
However it’s going to cost you quite a lot of money and can only be done by a Specialist Data Recovery House capable of working with Dead Drives. They can remove the Platters in a Clean Room and fit them to a special Machine and read the data directly off the platters.
As this is very specialized equipment like that used to recover Data off a HDD that was onboard Colombia when it was destroyed there are only a few Data Recovery Houses who are capable of doing this type of work and needless to say it’s not cheap. Kroll Ontrack was used to recover Data off a Drive found after Colombia was destroyed but there may be other Data Recovery Houses capable of doing work like this. 😉
But if it isn’t spinning up at all, perhaps no joy.
The truly intrepid (and extremely careful) may try swapping the platters with the exact same model drive. But probably easier and safer to let a data recovery house do it.
