Reformat

by ugadata In reply to How do clear uncompleted ...

Reformat the drive/partition where the uncompleted installation is located.

This can be done by booting from the XP install cd as part of the setup

OR

Booting from a Win9x boot floppy an running FDISK.

I dont want to reformat

by komputa4all In reply to How do clear uncompleted ...

I dont want to reformat since i am using dual booting.the uncompleted installation is always the default when you boot.when you change from the boot.ini it goes back to the uncompleted as the default. So i want a way i can clear the uncompleted without reformating.

Remove unwanted option from BOOT.INI

by ugadata In reply to How do clear uncompleted ...

It should be as easy as removing the boot option you don't want from the BOOT.INI file.

However that said what OS's are you dual booting? If the OS's in question are all MS OS's, XP and earlier, shouldn't be too bad. Either Startup and Recovery or MSCONFIG should allow you to edit the BOOT.INI file. If Vista is involved you will need to make the changes from Vista.

If a flavor of Linux is involved ... I think there is an open source utility for dual booting. I have no idea what it is, I have never needed to setup dual booting with a Linux OS.
