How do I boot after an lsass.exe error?

by pwilson_is . Updated 20 years, 8 months ago

A few days after installing a graphics card into my Windows XP Home edition PC, I received a message telling me I had to enter safe mode (after using my given restore CD with my PC) and enter my Administrator password, unfortunately I could not remember it and entered it incorrectly, however, I could still log on using a different account and did so. It told me some hardware was being installed (the graphics card presumably). Then after restarting as requested, the windows start up screen with the scrolling bar just kept looping around without even reaching the log on screen. However, I managed to enter safe mode and get to the log on screen but I then immediately received an error message “lsass.exe system error, when trying to update a password this return status indicates that the value provided as the current password is not correct”
This message appears for about 3 seconds and then the windows startup screen returns and loops again.

Please Help!

Thanks

Paul
