At work we use an external USB drive. We boot to it, we run ghost and then we can take or deploy an image to our fleet of Dell machines.
I kinda, well, deleted it’s MBR, and now I’m trying to get it working again.
I restored the partition info using Partition Find and Mount, so I have copied its contents safely onto my PC, and I will copy them back onto the drive. First though, i need to get it booting, and running either PC-DOS or MS-DOS, so I can run Ghost.
I assume it also needs to be NTFS ‘cos it has a few hundred GB of data. Or do I need to make it two partitions, one FAT or FAT32 that it boots to, and one big NTFS one that has the Ghosts in?
Other info:
I don’t know if we still use Ghost in the office, but I had a copy of Ghost 9.0 at home, and so tried to create a Ghost boot disk. Will try again, but that didn’t work then.
I used the HP bootdisk creation utility ‘advertised’ on bootdisk.com, but that just seems to boot into Linux.
I don’t have a copy of W98 to create a bootdisk.
Work PCs don’t have floppy drives
Any help, pretty please?
